Vanes

Vanes and feathers

The fletching stabilises your arrow in flight and corrects it after release. In this category you will find plastic vanes, spin vanes and natural feathers for every type of bow and arrow.

Which fletching suits you?

• Plastic vanes: durable and weatherproof; the standard for compound and many recurve and 3D archers.
• Spin vanes: thin, curled vanes that make the arrow spin quickly; popular with Olympic recurve archers, attached with special tape.
• Natural feathers: light and forgiving, flatten when touching the bow; the choice for traditional bows shot off the shelf.
• Size and profile: longer and higher vanes steer more strongly; shorter, lower vanes are faster and drift less in the wind.

Leading brands include AAE (Arizona), Bohning, Flex-Fletch, Q2i, Spin-Wing, XS Wings, Gateway, Trueflight and Avalon. Not sure which fletching suits you? DAS Roggel is happy to advise.
