Cedar in Nature product is therefore variable in weight and spine value. They are sold as standard with a +/- margin of 5 Lbs example of 40 to 45 lbs or 65 to 70 Lbs.
We supply the shafts from the factory as standard.
Port Orford Cedar wood to help determine which spine will shoot better with your bow, the charts are helpful but may not be precise.
Mid-line bow weight- it is better to go higher than lower, to low of a spine can cause the shaft to break when shooting.
Heavy heads- Standard points and broadhead weight is 125 grain, if you are planning on using heavier weights than it is necessary to go up in spine weight to compensate. The shaft needs to be strong enough to handle the extra weight, but not so strong that it won't shoot out of your bow.
Unlike aluminum, fiberglass or carbon glass shafts, the spine weight of Port Orford Cedar Arrows is virtually natural and cannot be "manufactured". The spine weight is solely determined by the diameter of the shaft and the density of the Port Orford Cedar wood. Top grade Port Orford Cedar Wood Arrows have small diameters and high spine weights. But since the advent of the compound bow, the larger diameter and high spine weight wood arrow shafts have been of high demand. These wood arrow shafts not only give bowhunters the necessary spine weight, but they also provide acceptable mass weight which is so important for penetration power.
